After picking up my DD from pre school yesterday, I was pulled to one side and told that DD had had her worst day so far. When told she couldn't do something, she lashed out, even hitting one of the nursery workers. Blush She has always struggled socially but thought with time it would get better. Apparently this isn't happening. One of the ladies suggested she may be on the autistic spectrum because of her severe tantrums and hatred of rules etc.

DD can has great eye contact and can be an angel some weeks, therefore her bad behaviour isn't consistant.

I have been in tears for most of the night and morning. Trying to keep my anxiety away from DD, but it's hard.

Does anyone have experience with this? Would really appreciate some advice.

suzy

there is loads of experience with this on the Special Needs board
nip over there and ask

DS2 has asd . he also has good eye contact and is an angel at times. But DS2 likes rules - he likes structure.
So, to be honest 'one of the ladies' may be talking bollocks.

Whay do you think?

Go to SN and talk.. see you there Smile

You could also ask your HV to do a SOGS tests

Hmm - I hate the fact some people are so quick to label! Grrr - probably she is like a lot of preschoolers that struggle with rules and has a lot of trantrums, or may be there could be something else, but this lady should not have said anything so flippant! I would see how it goes. How long has she been at pre school?

IMO what she said to you was out of order, lots of preschoolers struggle but that is one huge assumption and how awful, didnt she realise how upset that eould make you. I would see whoever is in charge there if it were me. How old is she? How long she been there? I agree the SN board will be able to help if your worried.
