DD gets so frustrated with toys

My DD is nearly 5 mo and she gets so frustrated with toys. She's normally a pretty good little baby - has her cranky periods but is generally relaxed, contented and very chirpy. She'll happily play on her playmat or sit in her chair for long periods of time. But when I give her a toy, all hell seems to break loose. She goes crazy when she can't fit things into her mouth and cries almost inconsolably. It's got to the point where I don't like to give her toys at all. And it's not just toys - she seems to get frustrated with anything she manages to grab and hold. Does anyone else have this problem and how do they deal with it?

Is she teething? They usually like to get everything in their mouths for a good chew at this time ... they need the relief on their gums and it can be frustrating for them if they don't get it. Just a thought ......

I thought about that but she doesn't seem to be. She's been like this for a good couple of months now so I don't think it can just be related to teething...

My DS is 4.5months and is exactly the same! He goes bananas if he can't get his toy in his mouth. Everything gets a good chewing and he's permanently dribbling. He gets really cross and cries if he can't get something in his mouth. Other than that he is the happiest baby I know.

He's my first baby so I am a bit clueless but I think he'll grow out of it but will watch this thread with interest to see what others think.

Hi Jayfer, are there any toys that he does enjoy/can fit in his mouth? i'd love to find something that doesn't drive my DD quite so nuts!

There are a couple of things he enjoys both can be bought from John Lewis. One is called Whoozit Winkle Teething Toy and the other is Sassy Ring Rattle. The are both light and just right for little hands to grab. The Whoozit is really good as my DS will grab it accidently when he's flapping his arms.
Hope you find these helpful?
