8 month old won't let us brush his teeth!

We had no problems when DS just had his lower incisors - DS was very cooperative.

Now that his upper incisors are coming through he just clamps his lips together and we can't brush them properly. The most we can get done is a bit of chewing when we let him hold the brush.

Any one got any tips?

The thing that worked with my DD at a similar age was brushing them in front of the bathroom mirror and pulling funny faces. I also would give her my toothbrush and let her clean mine while I cleaned her's. I also make a big thing of brushing her tongue which she finds funny and putting lots of water on the brush. It did work although to be honest even at 19 months we still have nights now when she doesn't want them brushed. I always perserve though as it is the one thing that I think she needs to accept, teeth are brushed before bedtime! Good luck!

You could try one of these:

DD laughs when I give hers to her and chews on it for ages (8mo).
