Does anyone know where I can obtain something interesting and fun to show DDs (2&3)how to brush their teeth properly?

This might not be what you are looking for but we sing 'This is the way we brush our teeth (early in the morning / when its time for bed)' to the tune of 'Here we go round the mulberry bush' and I usually pipe up 'side to side' 'top top' 'bottom bottom' 'other side' and sometimes change it to 'brush our nose / ears' etc to keep it fun. DS is 2.1 and is a great tooth brusherer Wink

I started off by holding the brush and doing it for him while singing and it didnt take long for him to learn the routine.

Thanks Kiwi,
I have one reluctant brusher and one over- enthusiastic one!

I did hear that on some government website that parents are supposed to brush DCs teeth until age 7!!!
Not blooming likely.

Hi there

Have been to dentist alot recently, due to neglectful brushing (on the part of the parents!), total so far, 1200?. Children are 5 and 6, both have now got fillings and it shamed me to death.

Yes, its a pain but the dentists (have seen 2 as wanted 2nd opinion) areed that parents have got to brush with & for children until they are about 9 yrs old and 100% capable of doing it themselves. Its not worth letting them get on with it and actually get it wrong, plus its not fair on the children. 3 minutes is all it takes, nothing compared to the hours and hours we put into every other activity.

I negotiate with my 3 year old - she can clean her teeth with no intervention from me in the morning. In the evening however I get to do it, so I know they get a good rushing at least once per day. Not ideal, but the alternative is that the teeth become a battle ground.
