My DS2 is really getting on my nerves, he has a really disgusting habit of putting his fingers in his bottom, i often find him with feces on his hands and fingers.
He is fully toilet trained and uses the toilet, he wipes his own bottom but i think im going to have to start checkng every time he goes.
He sits on the afoa with his fingers in him bum and it makes me

He is 3 (nearly 4) im not sure how to try and stop him doing this.
ANy experience of ideas?

Are you sure he hasn't got worms and is itchy/sore down there?

RonansMummy · 31/08/2010 16:13

i was going to say has he got worms

TitsalinaBumSquash · 31/08/2010 16:26

No he hasn't got worms, i have asked him if he is itchy he says no, he isn't scratching and i have checked he has had worms once when he was a little baby so i know the worms protocol.

He seems to do it absent mindedly like when he is engrossed in a story or TV he will either play with his willy or his bum...

My DS1 does exactly the same, and I would imagine it's fairly common.

It's pretty gross, but I imagine they'll pack in in soon (hopefully).

Hopefully! The amount of times he come up to me with stinks hands and i have to march him in the Bathroom and scrub his nails out...

Is he pooing ok? Sometimes they poke in their bottoms if they are a bit constipated...

If not, maybe, turn off TV for 10 mins, or stop story telling for 10 mins if he does it. Conversely if he doesn't do it, give a reward (extra story or 10 mins TV). My DS1 plays with his willy a lot at story time and I just gently pull his hand out and he stops. I remember my brother doing this a lot as a little boy watching TV. He's 38 and doesn't do it anymore Grin

Have you checked his bum for worm eggs in the morning? may not have worms, but what about eggs? MY DS loves giving himself 'sticky up winky' which horrifies my DH, i just try to ignore it. thankully he doesnt do the bum thing... having said that i have seen my neice do it -
