3 yera old will not let me show him anything - driving me mad

eg begs for play time together after dinner with me tonight

i say ok lets race cars this way and he grabs them and throws them on floor and says no no no not that way...i only was suggesting something in a veyr noce calm chirpy voice

i can never ever show him anything new etc play or other

whereas a friend of mine with toddler regularly comes over and he literallty turns into angel every time, worhsips her and listens and tries all she says for play ideas

what can i do?

i sya lets go in garden he yells, lets go out for wlak he yells, will not try scooter trike etc

will not try swimming nothing

ahh it's normal, they like to exert their will over the things that they can control.
i just go with it...

reverse psychology

he is a threenager, they like to be contrary

drop 'let's do this' and say 'i'm going to' and follow it with 'you stay here/see you later/won't that be fun' etc. Don't even mention him joining in with you.

I had this with DS and my mum said with me at that age, she would ignore me and say "I don't want to talk to you until you can be nice". She would then carry on with her jobs and completely ignore me.

She said it worked as being ignored was the thing threenagers hated the most!
