2 year old biting nails - what to do

My DS has started biting them so badly they're bleeding! He seems to do it when he's watching tele / waiting for dinner / in the car.

Any thoughts on how I can stop it - his fingers look awful now, and very sore.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

We have recently moved house, and I have been a bit less than patient with him - I'm worried it's a nervous thing!

sorry no suggestions but just to say my 2 year old started biting his nails too (although not so badly as to bleed..) i think it is quite rare for their age though? we haven't moved or don't think he has anything to be nervous about so no idea why
i was thinking of putting that funny tasting solution on but not sure if it is okay for their age and also he eats sometimes with his hands so wasn't sure
also was suggested to see psychologist about it but i feel that may be a bit much?

my 2yr old bites his nails too. we haven't moved or anything either

firawla.. i was wondering about the funny tasting stuff too. DH and I have decided to leave things as they are for a couple of months in case he's doing it because he's teething

For healing the fingers try putting honey on them when he's asleep (it can't hurt him and heals fast)Smile

I bite mine really badly and my son started biting his at about 3. I felt so responsible and gave up biting mine and told him I'd stopped. He was making his bleed and crying but after about 3 months he just stopped and he never does it now. I started again....Blush. Maybe you shold ignore for a bit and see if he works it out himself that it hurts
