How to stop a 10 mo biting me

DD is biting me at almost any opportunity i.e whilst reading or playing or sitting next to me but mostly when I'm carrying her.

Obviously there is a limit to what she can understand. I say no firmly and move her away from me (when I'm not holding/carrying her!) but so far no improvement. I now have quite an array of bruises on my arms and shoulders and a couple of times she's actually broken the skin when I can't get away from her because I'm carrying her.

I read that you're not supposed to make too much of a fuss in case they do it more but it's hard not to yell when you've got 4 sharp teeth biting into you!

Any ideas please MNers?

Thanks

I would say, very loudly 'OUCH THAT HURT MUMMY!' And put her down.

My son tends to pull off my glasses and hit me in the face while doing it. I say OUCH and move him out of reach.

I think there is nothing wrong, at any age, to let them know they've hurt you. They may not understand the words, but they will get the tone of voice.

Just carry on saying 'NO' and walking away so that she knows it hurts. Try a really sad face too.

Ds2 age 1 ish is doing this but I have to say it's in an affectionate 'I want to chew you' kind of way...??IYSWIM!!

make sure she has lots of other things to chew on too. Those poor teeth coming through must feel odd.

Oh, I feel for you! I was about to post on the same topic - my DS is 11 months and bites me at every opportunity, and he's got 8 teeth!! He'll come up to me and bite my feet, or my legs, arms, whatever body part is in reach, and it seems to be much worse with me than with anyone else.

I've been shouting OUCH and putting him down for 5 months now and it's not working....so no solutions, but will be watching this thread!!
