it can take a while especially when they bite other children as they always get a response from it. Be really persistent, remove any toys etc that have been gained by the bite, say clearly biting is not ok then ignore biter and give lots of attention to recipient. Try to anticipate when it happens eg if there are certain circumstances get in first by diverting his attention or providing alternative toys or activities. Good luck

ta. it's just so difficult, esp since it normally happens when they're at my mum's, and dd likes to bite her 1 year old cousin. and my mum generally says "oh that's ok, it's just a little bite...never mind.."
Sigh

if possible get your mum on side and tell her that you really want to teach dd not to bite, otherwise stick with the diverting tactics while you are there and try to stop it b4 it starts iykwim
