Hi. I have a lovely 22mo DS who, though no angel, is actually pretty chilled and happy. Looking for a book that will give me some insight into developmental milestones, ideas for dealing with the usual toddler 'challenges' etc.
DH and I are both quite laid back in parenting approach - but we are firm about some aspects. i.e. DS is sat on his bottom if he hits/bites etc and then has to say sorry when he calms down (just realised that sounds draconian but actually he just gives a cuddle to whomever he's 'assaulted'). I don't like books that advocate controlled crying as it just doesn't fit with our style - I looked at the Toddler Taming book and it just didn't feel right for us, for example. And I'm afraid that DH is really not good with very american and/or mumsy writing - the toddler whisperer book didn't go down well for that reason. Something a bit more research/science-based would go down better.
TIA for any suggestions
