ds1 has started doing this thing where he keeps repeating the end of words

so he'll say
"Mummy"
yes
"eeee"
yes?
"eee"
yes DS1?
"eeee... where is my transformer?"

it happens about 50% of the time now I would say, and it's always the last sound of the last word of his sentence
tried ignoring it and just waiting for him to stop before i reply, tried (as above) to prompt him to carry on with his sentence,

should i just ignore it? should i gently point it out so he can try and stop?
what's it all about?

Could it be a stammer (there's different types, it's not all the spluttery type we imagine)? Perhaps speak to school about a referral for speech therapy. Try just giving him time and waiting for him to finsih - don't interrupt.

do they just develop stammers all of a sudden?

i suppose so.... googling says common, not a problem unless it goes on longer than a month, so will see how he goes
