My 23m old DD has gone from pooing every few days to (over the past few months) pooing once a week or every 10 days.
As she approaches a week, her appetite drops rapidly and then once she has pooed (normally 3 or 4 huge ones in one day) she becomes hungry again.
She drinks plenty of water, eats lots of fruit & veg and eats wholemeal bread (too much fibre perhaps?). She has wet nappies and it doesn't seem to distress her. Today, it's been 9 days since her last one and we've started giving her lactulose twice a day. When she does go, her poos are normally very large but a 'good' consistency, if you know what I mean, and it doesn't cause her pain to go.
I am concerned though - although she seems fine in herself, not pooing for so long can't be good for her. We go on holiday at the end of the month and DP is now saying we won't go if she hasn't pooed cos he doesn't trust spanish hospitals
.
Can anyone offer any advice or thoughts? Is this serious and should I take her to the GP (we saw GP a month or so ago and she prescribed the lactulose)?
