23m old pooing once a week or less. Is it serious?

My 23m old DD has gone from pooing every few days to (over the past few months) pooing once a week or every 10 days.
As she approaches a week, her appetite drops rapidly and then once she has pooed (normally 3 or 4 huge ones in one day) she becomes hungry again.
She drinks plenty of water, eats lots of fruit & veg and eats wholemeal bread (too much fibre perhaps?). She has wet nappies and it doesn't seem to distress her. Today, it's been 9 days since her last one and we've started giving her lactulose twice a day. When she does go, her poos are normally very large but a 'good' consistency, if you know what I mean, and it doesn't cause her pain to go.

I am concerned though - although she seems fine in herself, not pooing for so long can't be good for her. We go on holiday at the end of the month and DP is now saying we won't go if she hasn't pooed cos he doesn't trust spanish hospitals Hmm.

Can anyone offer any advice or thoughts? Is this serious and should I take her to the GP (we saw GP a month or so ago and she prescribed the lactulose)?

My dd was like that
it was incredibly stressful and upsetting watching her when she eventually went
we used lactulose sporadically and she did eventually grow out of it a few months after potty training
I feel for you, I'd not go back there for anything
your dh is being ott though saying he won't go in holiday because of it

Thanks for the message - helps to know it can happen to others and it doesn't sound serious but not very nice.
And i also think DP is being OTT but he can be like that sometimes - I am wokring on him :)

Glad to hear your DD grew out of it - hopefully that'll happen to us - we're not far off potty training here.
