7mo juct cut first tooth - how do I clean it?

My DD just cut her first tooth and the second one looks like it won't be far behind. How do I clean them? Firstly, how do you get your LO to open her mouth and cooperate, and how do you get them not to swallow the toothpaste (or do you not use any?).

Presumably it's best done with them sitting on your knee?

I just give my seven month old ds a toothbrush to play with - as with everything, it goes straight in his mouth and he chomps on it for a while.

With a toothbrush

I put a tiny smear of toothpaste for the right age on a toothbrush for the right age and try and give a little brush then let them play with it.

There are some new brushes that you can get which the baby chews on as well I'll have a look
