Childminder or nursery

Hi I'm in a dilemma, our DS 22 months has gone to a childminder since he was 6 month old and he loves it, even more since the CM has taken on a 3 year old. But the 3 year old is leaving at the end of Sep and then the CM will then be having an 8 month old to look after. The thing is should I look into DS going to a nursery 2 time a week in case he gets bored with no one to play with? I really don't know what to do for the best.

If you DS is happy there then I'd leave him with the CM but check that she takes him to playgroups and so on so he can mix with other children. Continuity is important to small children imo and he might not settle at a Nursery having been happy with the CM. Also sounds harder work for you taking him to different place on different days.

He'll soon be able to go to a preschool if you have one locally and he'll meet plenty of children there. One of the potential advantages of using a CM is that she (assuming that CM is female, never heard of a male one) will probably be able to take and collect from preschool not sure that a nursery would.
