Red wasn't the colour my dd got first, it was way down after black, blue, green and yellow, so I wouldn't pay too much heed to your mum thinking it odd.

They do get confused at this age - they're learning so much that it would be strange if they didn't get mixed up sometimes. It doesn't sound like there's anything to worry about to me.

My ds2 is 20m old and doesn't know red. In fact he doesn't know any of his colours, and he gets names mixed up too. I don't think red is the colour children learn first, my dd is 34m old and knows blue, green and yellow but I don't think, red.

Crikey my dd is nearly 3 and we were told that she is on the top half of the 2.5yrs to 3.5yrs at her weekly nursery group in knowing them! My dd doesn;t talk so it's even more incredible that we know she knows!
Now I'm humbled...
Thinking back my ds could divide numbers before he knew his colours!

red definitely wasn't the first colour my DD knew. She loves Yellow, so that was her first, then green and blue.. then Red. I shouldn't worry!

My dd is 19 months and doesnt' know any colours yet

DD1 is now 2,but since 20 months or so,has called most colours 'blue'Even now,if you ask her what clour anything is,she will say 'blue' first.
