Grinding teeth in sleep

Has anyone had a dc who grinds their teeth in their sleep? Ds is 7 and has done this for years. Am worried that it will damage his teeth? He is a confident child who doesn't show any sign of anxiety, so we are puzzled why this happens when he is asleep?

Don't suppose there is a way to put a stop to it since he is not conscious that he is doing it?

My DD1 does this, but we were told its down to her Autism. We are off to denist soon as she is getting alot of adult teeth though and dont want her ruining them too :)
Her pead did suggest a certain herbal tablet, will look it out tomorrow and post here, you just reminded me about it Blush

Mine used to do this but it went away. I think when their jaws are still growing, it can cause some teeth grinding. I found this, if you want to research more -children teeth grinding
