DD will be 1 on Saturday, she's got four teeth, two top and two bottom.
I tried BLW when she was 6 months but she wasn't that interested, I know thats normal for the first few months but she wasn't having much milk either (refused bottle, wouldn't feed for long when breastfeeding, get easily distracted) so I decided to spoonfeed her instead as she was loosing weight. She was born on the 25th percentile but by 6 - 7 months she went down to the 1st.
She took really well to me feeding her, ate anything and everything of however much was offered and started to put on weight (I think she's well above the 25th percentile now, will find out tomorrow when I get her weighed).
She has her days when she's off her food (dont we all?) but even now will eat mostly anything. Most of what she eats is home cooked, its not blended, just mashed a bit or cut up into tiny pieces. If its baby food then she has the stage 3 ones. The problem is though she will not chew her food, just swallows it. She doesnt even gag or choke on it, I dont know how she does it because when I eat it, I feel the need to chew it before I swallow it (esp the home made stuff as its just what we eat).
I've always offered her plenty of finger foods, she'll eat a bit and then throw most of it away. With finger food, she'll first suck on it, bite a bit of and then swallow it. Still doesnt chew it.
Is this normal? I have her one year check tomorrow so will check with HV if it is but wanted your opinions and if you have any experience of this?
For those of you who have had this with your DC, when did they start chewing their food?
