DS age 5 making random noises when tired

Hi, my beautiful DS age 5 makes noises with his mouth and throat when he is tired,( clicking and quiet grunting ). I took him to doc as I know it is very common at this age especially with boys to make random noises. Doc said best to ignore as goes away. It did over a year ago but has made a return, especially when he is tired. I am really just looking for any other experiences of same and maybe an idea of how long it went on for. I am only concerned as he says he has to do it, I tend to ignore it as per docs advice.

Have you asked him why he does it? I can't imagine it's anything serious. If he's doing well in all other aspects then chances are it's just a habbit that he's probably not even aware he's doing.

Apparently when I was little, when I had switched off ie watching tv, I used to make this strange noise. Embarassing to admit, but I sometimes hear myself do it now.

Hope this helps

Yes, he says he has to do it! which does make it sound like a habit. Thank you for your reply, appreciated.
