Can you drink too much water??

My 3 year old is drinking so much water the last few days. Where as normally I worry she's drinking too little, I never thought i'd be worrying she's having too much!

Does anyone have a clue why she would be so thirsty? It's not particularly hot today and she's not been running around or anything.

Any ideas welcome.

How much is too much.

When my DD was 2 she was drinking 3 pints a day every day. Everyone thought I was so lucky, even the HV wasn't worried about it when I questioned it with her.

She's now 4 and will drink at least that in a day.

Is she eating less than usual?

Well the last few weeks she's been eating almost for 2, but I thought she's obviously going through a growth spurt. But today she's not really eaten much.

Yes you can but I think he drank about seven litres - don't think you need to worry!

The only thing I know excessive thirst is a symptom of is diabetes.

Yeah that's what I was thinking and it does run in the family, but that is self induced diabetes (type 2)so that wouldn't really make sense.

I haven't heard of a 3 year old with diabetes but maybe that's just me being ignorant.
