Anyone elses LO kick off only in the supermarket? Today (we are moving house on saturday so I am off work with him (thought would be nice to speand some time with him!) normally I do shopping without him or online!) I needed literally 3 things. Ive been back three times. The first time we got to the vegetable bit and I was saying "ooh Leo can you see the bananas?" to keep him interested he just stood up in the trolley seat and attempted to launch out followed by collapsing on the floor with high pitched screaming Ive never heard before! I then tried to carry him screaming under my arm everyone staring - I just grinned and ran to the till. Been back twice to get two things I literally couldnt get. Last time I had to get washing up liquid he was fine until we got to the till and just didnt want to wait at all - I dont blame him really. I didnt know whether to tell him off or not I dont think he has been deliberatly naughty just totally frustrated. Is this normal for this age!!??? He is 22 months?! My childminder said he loves shopping and has even sent me photos of him sat smiling in the trolley!

i would've just got all three things in one hit. and not go back.

I'm afraid my reaction to screaming, collapsed toddlers is to step over them and keep going. He could be a determined type... however, most are more worried about being abandoned than they are about carrying on with the hissy fit.

You might have timed it wrong.... if he was due a nap but found himself in a supermarket, that could have set him off.

I couldnt remember the things due to the screaming and had to get them anyway - I am on my own so couldnt have gone later. There was a little girl behaving perfectly with her mum about the same age! Grr!

And why does everyone stare - what am I meant to do - press the off switch!??! So embarassing nevermind I probably did it when I was his age!

I had a woman tut at me, as i ignored ds2 having a big one the other day. i never had this with ds1 becasue he never had a tantrum, so this is all new to me. but her tutting incensed me.

id have a tantrum if i went 3 times in one day or even 3 times in one week!

be better prepared-if your dc is going through a tantrum stage, take a list so you dont forget things and have to go back.

calculators are my best friend whilst shopping.the dc think theyre being helpful adding things up.or give him his own list but with pictures.
as for people looking-i walk off,dc realise theres no audience and get over it ten times quicker than if im standing there saying 'aww darling ssh'etc.i make sure i can still see them but they cant see me.i am heartless though.
