6 yr old with no friends close by

Where we live there are no other children for my 6 yr old ds to play with. I think this is getting him down as there is no opportunity for spontaneous play where we live. If he has friends over it is a planned event and not just at the drop of a hat. He is aware that he has no friends to play with and with the start of the 6 week holidays it is also worrying me that he is lonely, There are plenty of holiday clubs but it would be lovely to have friends close by. Anyone else like this & how do you make up for it with your child ?

yes there were a housefull of boys that ds(8) used to play with and they've moved!

will be taking ds to the park alot i suppose. or making his brother take him out!

do you have a local park - are there any play events planned for the holidays? national play days in a week or two
