DD1 is 22 months and went into on a couple of weeks ago.

Marking my place to see what others say. My ds is 19 months and very interested to see what others have done.

pigleychez · 23/07/2010 19:11

DD was 18mths

ponceydog · 23/07/2010 19:15

round about 2

violetsmile · 23/07/2010 19:16

Well ds had one of those big cotbed sized ones but still had the bars on til he was 2.11! I don't see the problem with it really, there really is no rush. In my experience, the earlier you do it, the more chance there is of problems with getting up and messing about etc. So much easier to reason with a 3 y o!

izzybiz · 23/07/2010 19:18

My Ds is nearly 22 months and has been in a bed for about a week now.

I agree leave them as long as possible but he was an expert at climbing out but got a very chubby knee stuck between the bars last week!

We changed his cot into a bed and put a stair gate on the door, he has been quite good so far.....

KimberleySakamoto · 23/07/2010 19:23

It must have been well before DS was two, as I wanted him to have forgotten about the cot before DD came along. She then went into a bed at about 18 months because we were selling the house and wanted to prove that her room was big enough to take a single bed rather than just a cot. No problems with either.

deliciousdevilwoman · 23/07/2010 19:44

DT's were 14 months.

PrincessBoo · 23/07/2010 21:12

He was 2.1. He went straight from our bed to his bed - he never slept in a cot

funkychunkymunky · 24/07/2010 00:50

Thank you all

20 months i think
cos he kept climbing out, otherwise would have left him a bit longer
ds2 will probably do the same just wait til he can climb out and then move him, unless he gets to 2 and doesnt climb probably would just move him anyway?

paisleyleaf · 24/07/2010 13:54

DD got a single bed on her 2nd birthday.

onadietcokebreak · 24/07/2010 13:55

Before he was two I think.....

mum2oneloudbaby · 24/07/2010 14:01

dd was 2.1 did it because we were going to be staying in a hotel when she was 2.3 and she was too big for their travel cots so needed her to be used to a bed.

isitnearlywineoclock · 24/07/2010 14:08

DS2 still in a cotbed with the bars up at 2.6 - I like to keep them caged as long as possible. He vaults over every morning when he wakes up and gets into bed with us but I think the bars are a deterrent to wandering when he's just been put to bed. I think DS1 and DD were about this age when I 'released' them... and I must confess I have been thinking about letting the little one out of prison recently

lucysnowe · 24/07/2010 14:16

DD is still in a cot age 2.4!! She has short legs though. Planning to get one soon...

latrucha · 24/07/2010 14:23

DD is 2.6 and in cotbed with bars up. She slept terribly for 18 months - there's no way I'm rocking the boat until I have to while she's sleeping well!
