Clingy Child

I know every child has clingy moments, but I am worried my little one is getting a bit extreme.

She has been going to nursery since she was 8 months old, and always been fine.. takes her a bit of time to settle in to a new group, but generally enjoys it.

Our problem seems to be leaving her. If me or Daddy go out for the evening we have sobbing, and real anguish that we have gone. Leaving her overnight with her much loved grandparents is now non-existent. She is 3 and smart so I know some of it is for attention, but how can we ever leave the house without her??

We are due to have our 2nd child in October, and whilst I can put some of this behaviour down to this, it has been going on for longer than 6 months.

Any help or advice would be greatly received

Does she carry on sobbing after you've gone? Some children really specialise in piling on the guilt this way but calm down surprisingly quickly once Mum & Dad have left the room. You shouldn't let a 3 year-old keep you prisoner in your own home....
