L:ets Talk about sex - this is an updated version of the one I got DS about that age. It was very matter-of-fact about stuff, and not cringy!

I bought 'What's Happening to My Body' for my DD (10) following a recommendation on here. There is a boys version as well. To be honest it was much more detailed than I had anticipated, and pretty matter of fact. I had intended to read it with her but she pulled various faces at the prospect, so I left it lying around and she is often found reading/looking through it herself. Lots of illustrations etc.

Can't you just talk to them about sex and puberty? I remember getting 'a book' as a kid and all the diagrams just confused the heck out of me. If you talk to them and encourage questions you will a) be sure of what they understand and b) can tailor the message to an appropriate level.

thanks for suggestions will have a look at them

chil1234, yes i can and do talk to him, but knowing him, he will want to mull it over and do his own research as it were so think a matter of fact book with pics and diagrams will be helpful to him

i've already had to have a conversation with him about 'why it is inappropriate for the cleaning lady to walk into the lounge and find you wanking', so i am pretty relaxed!
