Is it true that most babies are either 'physical' or 'verbal'/'social'?

Just wondered - DS was a bit slow to smile and still doesn't clap/wave (at 9mo) but sat up before 6mo and is very good at crawling/climbing etc.

So not particularly precocious in any way but a definite 'physical' I feel.

I'm not sure but I think it is all quite random. Some will be more able to do just about anything at any given age - it doesn't mean there is necessarily a problem with development when things seem a bit slower than you might expect.

Ds1 was pretty much both from early on but then he is slower at coordination than many of his peers now he is 7. It's all very variable.
