Please help - can anyone recommend a private paediatric gastroenterologist for my 5 week old baby. She is in so much pain and I am at the end of my tether. My GP and HV are great but do not know much about this. She is on domperidona and ranitidine without much effect so far (started last Tuesday). We are in London.

My dd has this - she is 10 weeks old - I have just sorted out some medication for her, having been referred to a specialist at our local hospital. She has been given domperidone and Losec - Losec is stronger that ranitidine but I had problems with my GP who wasn't allowed to prescribe it (it's expensive) and had to get it from the hospital pharmacy instead. Can you get them to refer you to GOSH - my friends children are under them for GERD and have found them brilliant.

Your GP should really refer you to a paediatrician specialising in baby digestive disorders. GOSH is an excellent idea. My son was diagnosed with Pyloric Stenosis aged 3 weeks (often confused with reflux) and required an operation.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. We went back to be weighed again today and despite all efforts she has only gained 1oz this week. She is no longer bringing all milk back up now but is still refluxing (and swallowing again) and in a lot of pain. I am so worried.

DS had silent reflux and we saw Dr Eltumi at the Portland - he does treat at other hospitals too though - you should be able to find him on google. Ranitidine did nothing for us, only the omeprazole which was the wonder drug.
Good luck, its horrible I know.
