I hate having to post this as it makes me feel a bit weird but I am 1st time mum and need some advice on this.

2 yo DS seems to have a pea shaped lump under skin on his penis on RHS at the base. Is this normal part of development or should I be taking him to GP?

I just noticed when I was changing his nappy last night but it doesn't seem to be bothering him at all and I don't even know how I spotted it. Just when generally running a wipe over him to freshen up at nappy change time and I just noticed a wee lump that I am sure has never been there before.

Thanks for any advice on this as I can't ask anywhere else and feel a bit weird even posting this on here...

are you sure it isn't just a bollock?

I would nip him along to a walk-in clinic or something if you are worried.

Could that be what it is? I am totally clueless here. It's kind of a bit high up to be that I think but then I am not sure...

Think I might just check with HV then - am pretty sure it is likely to be normal and I also don't want to freak him out be getting his nappy off n having someone peering at him you know? Guess thats why I am asking on here first in case it is something all other mums of boys know is just part of their development...

Thanks anyways

I don't know as I don't have a boy or any experience of these, but could it be a little hernia? (I think they are called inguinal hernias) I think they are fairly common.

More information

Thanks for the link.
Suppose it is a possibility.
Guess we'll have to go see the GP
Hopefully I am just being my forum name again

Hiya, my DS had this. It is in all likelihood the exact same thing but even so do go to your GP about any lumps if you are worried. Apparently it is quite common in boys for 'stuff' to get up under the foreskin and gradually form a lump. I'm really sorry but I can't remember the medical name for it offhand, because am writing this at work, but will check my letter when I get home. My DS has had his for about a year now, I forgot to ask the paedetrician when they go away but he said the 'stuff' eventually disperses and works its way out. He told me what he suspected it was before DS even got his nappy off at the appt and was cross with my GP for even sending him for an appointment, but I was worrying for months about it! Especially since my GP asked me about 10 times when I had noticed it!! I hope yours is the same thing. It's very likely, but take him to GP anyhow. Like you I suddenly noticed this lump, it was as if it had appeared overnight and I couldn't think how it had been that I hadn't seen it before! But it doesn't cause them any pain it seems. HTH!

Thanks so much. Was hoping that someone had been through the exact same thing as I thought it must be something another Mum has spotted but maybe it's too much of a personal thing to be posting about on a message board. Can't help but feeling a bit weird posting a thread with a title like this though.

Thanks and I will take him to see GP for confirmation.

Me too! exact same, doctor took me very seriously but explained it was most likely a "sebacious cyst" ie blocked sweat gland, and that if it wasn't bothering him or getting any bigger, not to worry. Actually he's now 2.6 yrs and has, ahem, discovered his willy a bit more, lots of playing with it, and it seems to have disappeared!
Always worth checking but sounds just like what he had.

Now if I can just get him to leave the whole thing alone...!

I think it was abuild up of nappy rash cream lol it came out randomly one morning and I squished it 😅 it was there for a couple of weeks before it made its way out. I don't know how it got so far down there though!
