Rosen for a boy?

Any thoughts on this name? I really like it but my husband thinks he might be called Rosie - not good for a boy!!

Also, can anyone think of any nice nature names for boys. I really like Forest and River but they wouldn't be right with our surname.

Thank you!

Sorry, I don't like Rosen. I wouldn't have thought of roses, so the nature element didn't work for me.

I think your husband is right.

Like Michael Rosen??

Strange that your username is Mike??

LuluF · 06/07/2010 17:17

Didn't you post recently and then ask for it to be removed - because felt people were taking the mickey?

I think many people suggested then that you weren't a serious poster.

You had suggested Ocean and another name I can't remember now?

mike1969 · 06/07/2010 18:08

Yes, you are quite right - I did ask for my last message to be withdrawn. My children do have unusual names which I, and many others, love.

Oh, for the other posters - thank you so much for your help - much appreciated : )

Rosen is not a "surname as first name" that appeals to me. Sorry.

valiumSingleton · 06/07/2010 18:23

Isn't it german for pink? I know a guy sur name rosenstock and it literally means pink stink which was a name given by nazis I think.

sheeplikessleep · 06/07/2010 18:24

I think it sounds like a girls name to be honest

mike1969 · 06/07/2010 18:29

ok - enough bad feedback to decide it's a no-goer. Especially after the comment about German for pink/Nazi connotations. Thank you for your help. None of the above names really grab although I quite like Caspian. I also like Eden a lot and Lindon (actually I love Landon) but hubby doesn't like them. Oh well, twelve more weeks to decide : )

bigbluebump · 07/07/2010 09:50

No, in German:

pink = rosarot or rosa

a rose = eine Rose

Stock = stick

Rosenstock would therefore translate into stick of roses. Nothing to do with Nazis imo.!!

geekgirl · 07/07/2010 09:56

agree with bigblue - the surname Rosenstock has nothing to do with nazis whatsoever. Don't know how anyone would come up with that one!

valiumSingleton · 07/07/2010 13:43

It was somebody whose sur name was Rosenstock who told me that!

annasophia · 07/07/2010 15:06

Well that somebody clearly does not know German very well at all .

To the op: Rosen is the plural of rose in German, so Rosen = roses (not a good name for a boy ).

mike1969 · 07/07/2010 22:01

Thanks everyone. Rosen our baby will not be : )))
