I like Lawrence, but not Larry. I like the full name best, but prefer Laurie to Larry.

tummytickler · 06/07/2010 13:29

Love it, but prefer Laurie for a nn.

Hedwig3 · 06/07/2010 14:22

Laurence is fabulous

Lawrence looks like a surname to me.

gegs73 · 06/07/2010 14:25

I really like it but prefer Laurie to Larry. I agree think it should be spelt Laurence.

flopsy1974 · 06/07/2010 14:27

Not keen on either. Sorry.

vintage · 06/07/2010 14:27

I love Laurence and Lawrence don`t like Larry prefer Lonnie

OneFishTwoFish · 06/07/2010 14:33

DC1, due in 4 weeks, is going to be Laurence if he is a he, with Laurie as a nn. Laurence Sebastian William, in fact.

I love it - classic but quite unusual.

wigglesrock · 06/07/2010 16:49

Agree with Hedwig, Laurence is first name, Lawrence surname, really like name btw

LetThereBeRock · 06/07/2010 17:07

I like Laurence, as others have said. Don't have a big problem with Lawrence though. Like Laurie as short version. It's a really nice name.

Thistledew · 06/07/2010 20:38

Is is too much of a leap to go from Lawrence/Laurence to Lance as a nickname?

janeite · 06/07/2010 20:40

I absolutely love Laurence and Laurie but hate Larry and Lance.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/07/2010 21:16

Was our second choice for newborn ds2 (though wouldn't shorten to larry), but the lawrence/laurence problem would have annoyed me/him.

babywrangler · 06/07/2010 23:17

I'm thinking it's Harry... with brains and a chin!

my mum loves the name Laurence and has been trying to add it on to our short list... personally i wouldnt want baby to be nicknamed the obvious Larry...

wubblybubbly · 06/07/2010 23:23

We've got a Lawrence/Lawrie.

The spelling is after my Dad, who got Lol.

Obviously I love it, regardless of the spelling.

sharbiebowtiesarecool · 06/07/2010 23:27

I got one too - never called Larry or Laurie but Lol at school.

nooka · 07/07/2010 03:53

I know a Laurence mostly known as Laurie and a Lawrence mostly known as Lance. I prefer the former, and really don't like Larry much - because of Lawrence Olivier, and that whole stage thing. Although ds has a friend called Larry, and I've really thought is "how 70's".

mintyfresh · 07/07/2010 20:05

I have a Laurie (Laurence) and never even considered Larry as nickname tbh!

'Lawrence' would be my preferred way of spelling it but our surname is also a first name so we thought it might be confusing...

Kathleen123 · 08/07/2010 14:40

Like it as Lawrence and Laurie

Cortina · 08/07/2010 15:26

Olivier - He was known as Larry too, I think..?

KAEKAE · 08/07/2010 23:49

Lawrence is a surname...its infact my surname. I would say go for Laurence
