We have had the name for our baby girl due in 3 weeks time set in stone for quite a while now.
For weeks she has been going to be called Martha Ellen.
However DH heard the name Rosa on the telly last night and has never stopped going on about it.
Now he wants Martha Rosa.
I've told him that I love Rosa but it just doesn't go. There is no way he wants to change the first name, but is ok about changing the middle name.
Rose is out of the question as it's too popular

I'm considering it as I love Rosa.
Am I mad??
Could it possibly sound ok??
Honest opinions please.

The surname would be Lynch

I think it goes very well. Its lovely.

skyeplusbump · 06/07/2010 09:42

i do love the name rosa, my czech freinds have just named theyre daughter rozarka nn roza, i think its lovely...

GooseyLoosey · 06/07/2010 09:43

Go for it - her full name will almost never be said out loud and Rosa is (to my ears) nicer than Ellen.

BridesheadRegardless · 06/07/2010 09:46

You are mad.

you are becoming overly obsessed with a middle name that will never be used. this is not a crisis.

Ellen sounsd better, the two 'a' sounds on the end make it hard to say Martha and Rosa together.

But if you love it, go for it as you will hardly ever be saying Martha Rosa enough to make this a problem.

LuluF · 06/07/2010 09:47

I think I prefer Rosa to Ellen, too - my only thought is the 'a' sound at the end of both names - does it flow as well as 'Ellen' or 'Rose' - but as GooseyLoosey said, it'll hardly ever be said out loud anyway.

seeker · 06/07/2010 09:49

Martha Rose or Martha Ellen.

Martha Rosa doesn't flow

clpsmum · 06/07/2010 09:56

I prefer Martha Rosa much more than Martha Ellen. Ellen always makes me think of Ellen DeGeneres who i can't stand! Roas is gorgeous and very elegant. many people talk about you cant have two names ending in a etc but i don't have a problem with it at all and think Martha Rosa is very cool, classy, sophisticated and pretty. Go for it and good luck with baby xxxx

I love the name Rosa so much that

Rosa Ellen

is beautiful!

Sorry, I know I'm not helping

smother · 06/07/2010 10:29

Martha Rosa is divine and to my mind flows slightly better than Martha Ellen - but they are both beautiful so don't stress! Martha is a fab first name by the way.

Poohbearsmom · 06/07/2010 11:09

I think its lovely and nicer then Ellen imo but i do think Martha (which is great btw) does flow nicer with Rose... But like goosey said it will be very rare her full name will actually ever be said out loud...

sophieandbelly · 06/07/2010 11:10

i think it sounds fine together, i woulldnt worry, go with what u love! o wish my dp had liked name martha love it!

gladders · 06/07/2010 11:18

It's a middle name - it will never be used!

Not worth worrying about IMO

Hmm MrsvWoolf you've got me thinking now. It does sound nice as a second middle name. Wouldn't want to sound too much like the royal family though.
Would people think I was trying too hard?

Too many Ls in Ellen Lynch

But the double a in marthA RosA isn't fantastic

i'm annoying, sorry.

I like the Martha Ellen Rosa Lynch suggestion tho!
