Which spelling?

The name below is becoming a strong contender for our little man due in 10 weeks (my where did that go?) but we're still undecided on the spelling. Which do you think is better?

Lochlan or Lachlan I'm leaning more towards the 'A' spelling though it will be pronounced with an 'O' sound. Would this pose a problem do you think?

Lovely name. I like the Lachlan spelling best. Don't think people would have an issue with it and if they do just tell them how it's pronounced.

Lachlan this is on my shortlist too, this spelling is definitely the nicest and will cause him the least confusion throughout his life too. great name and good luck with final stretch of pregnancy xx

p.s also like the spelling lauchlan

BessieBoots · 05/07/2010 09:20

Lachlan. Good luck!

CuppaPimmsJanice · 05/07/2010 09:21

Lachlan definitely. The other one is too similar to locchia(sp?)

LuluF · 05/07/2010 09:23

Lachlan - I think people will know how it's pronounced. CuppaPimmsJanice - Eeeew!

I prefer the Lachlan spelling.

I like Lachlan - but I also like tha A pronounciation. I would go for the O spelling if you wnat the O sound - or he will spend his life correcting people.

Thanks all.

So Lochlan is out the window (the loccia comment was enough to dissuade me lol) but now we have Lauchlan in the mix.

Ermmm, descisions descisions!

Lachlan looks much better than Lauchlan (which looks as if it's caught between Lachlan and Laughlin).

If you want to go all-Irish how about Lochlann, which means Scandinavia. Hence the surnames O'Loughlin, McLaughlin, McLoughlin, McLachlan, etc.
