Not even conceived yet so there is every chance we could have a boy but just wondered which of these girl's names we should go for.

Amy or Isla. Our last name has 2 syllables and begins with an M. Any opinions? Any ideas for middle names would be greatly appreciated!

We already have one ds and have decided if dc2 is a boy, he will be called Thomas Henry.

I prefer Amy. Isla is pretty though. If Ds had been a girl he would have probably been an Amy (or Holly) with Grace as a second name.

I prefer Isla, but Amy is perfectly nice.

Traintastic · 29/06/2010 15:03

Just worries me that people will pronounce Isla wrong. Can't think of any middle names so may end up being Amy Isla Mxxxxxx at this rate!

Amy.

Isla is nice but too suddenly fashionable for me.

maxpower · 29/06/2010 15:06

Isla.... but this is what I plan on calling a DD if we are blessed with one. Albeit spelt slightly differently.

emmyloo2 · 29/06/2010 16:34

Amy definitely!!!!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 29/06/2010 16:36

I love Isla and then found out 2 premiership footballers called their daughters Isla so I am currently fighting my inner snob about the name.

I like Amy as well.

Amy

Isla.
Might be too many 'm's with your surname if you use Amy eg Amy Martin is not as smooth as Isla Martin

Traintastic · 29/06/2010 18:11

Yes I was thinking that about the M' s PixieCake. Our last name isn't too bad with it but it does sound a bit MMMMM iyswim?! Strange I seem to go for names with M's in because I was going to call ds Matthew but it sounded terrible with our surname.

Think there is a preety mixed bag of opinions on here, was hoping here would be a clear winner!

Definitely Amy. Far too many Isla's about at the moment IMVHO

plaggycheese · 01/07/2010 07:25

Strangely, a lot of people have commented on how popular Isla is at the minute, I have never met a baby Isla yet but all the baby girls round here are called Grace or Chloe! Isla is actually below Amy on the top 100 list of banes used in 2009 but it's on it's way up the chart whereas Amy is on the way down so it may get very popular.

plaggycheese · 01/07/2010 07:27

names not banes... don't know what my fingers were doing there!

bigstripeytiger · 01/07/2010 07:34
