We're trying to compile our top 10 list and can't agree on the spelling of Laila or Layla- any ideas?

Just to further confuse you = I like this name, but spelt Leila.

Prefer Layla.

HerHonesty · 27/06/2010 20:41

Laila. but depands on how you want to pronounce it too!

MrsBadger · 27/06/2010 20:42

Leila

My friend is called Leila but she pronounces it Lee-la.

But I like it pronounced Lay-la and spelt Leila (like the Eric Clapton song). I like Layla too, but not Laila (people might think it's Lye-la).

I also have a friend Leela (Leila). If I was going for Layla I would spell it that way.

Prefer Laila or Leila

If you like L names, what about:

Leah
Lara
Lana
Lyra
Leonie

kimbles1984 · 28/06/2010 15:04

i know a lEyla

Firawla · 28/06/2010 20:18

i like Layla better, it looks simpler sometimes Leila looks like people trying too much

bigstripeytiger · 28/06/2010 20:21

Layla

missorinoco · 28/06/2010 20:23

Leila is pronounced Lay-la

Laila is prnounced Lie-la

Prefer either of these to Layla.

missorinoco · 28/06/2010 20:25

Sigh.
If one is going to post about pronounciation, one ought to spell the silly word correctly.

BrittanyBeers · 29/06/2010 16:19

Leila.
It's not try-hard.
It's a propper way of spelling it.

Thanks everyone!! Just found out it's a boy - so will have to save the above for next time!!!
