Not too cute but if you called her Anne or Anna you could still use annie and she could be Anne when she was older.

HoopyFroodDude · 25/06/2010 12:00

I think they sound lovely together

belgo · 25/06/2010 12:01

It's fine. You have my permission

stainesmassif · 25/06/2010 12:03

yes, i was going to give a longer name to shorten to annie. alfie is an alfred.

ofcourse, my feminine intuition could be wrong...

there are some books about 'alfie' and he has a little sister annie-rose. don't know if this would bother you? or could be a good set of books to get

BessieBoots · 25/06/2010 12:11

It's lovely! I love the name Annie, I aways think of super-cool Annie Hall...

telsa · 25/06/2010 12:12

Shirley Hughes' Alfie and Annie-Rose books are rather great - so wouldn't be a bad association to be lumbered with.

Hedwig3 · 25/06/2010 12:20

Use just Annie if that's what you like.

Anna is a lovely name too.

randomimposter · 25/06/2010 13:28

I love Anny, was thinking of Rosanna as a long name.

If I had an Alfred/Alfie, I would want to give Annie a longer name too.

Annabelle, Annalise, Marianne, Johanna.... lots of choices?

thecoffeelady · 26/06/2010 00:11

I have a really good friend called Annie but her 'proper name' is Joanne, but has been called Annie since she came out of the womb!

plonker · 26/06/2010 00:14

Reminds me of the Shirley Hughes books too

Very cute!

plonker · 26/06/2010 00:16

...but I meant that in a good way ...

stainesmassif · 26/06/2010 15:12

i'm pretty sold already. i mentioned it to my mum earlier. she said 'hmm, that's nice, how about mary?'!

Annie is very nice, as is Anna if you want to use that as the official name. Alfie is more downmarket, they don't go together IMO.

stainesmassif · 26/06/2010 21:45

ouch.. we already have an alfie. but thanks for the feedback anyway, tasala.

Lovely combination, not a bit too cutesy.

stainesmassif · 27/06/2010 19:50
