Can it be short for anything other than Herbert? (not keen on naming a poor DS 'a Herbert')

Is it a stand alone name?

Opinions welcomed!

It makes me think about the film about the VW car. Sorry but I don't like it.

DramaInPyjamas · 24/06/2010 15:48

I would constantly be thinking of the film as well if I heard that name.

What about Herb? Always thought that was a cool name!

I know a little Herbie - stand alone name. He's very cute.

diplodoris · 24/06/2010 16:27

I think people will assume it's short for Herbert. You could always have it as a nickname for Basil or Salvio!

There is a Herbie in ds2's class. He is quite a dude! Really suits him and we all think it is very cool!!

All of the gang (they are only 5) call him Herbs!!! He loves it!

i love herbie, as it is not short for anything. I think it would be top of my list if i had another child.

annasophia · 24/06/2010 17:53

Herbert may well be due for a revival.

Magalyxyz · 24/06/2010 22:35

Not sure about it...

What about Howie/Howard? That seems less goofy and eau de wee chic than Herbert.......

Floopy21 · 25/06/2010 10:09

oooo, not knocked off the list yet it seems!
