Girls name - which do you prefer

Swore I'd never do a names thread but starting to get excited about baby arriving so what the hell

Middle name is Charlotte (special significance) but have only managed to agree on two names with DH for the shortlist:

Mia
Chloe

Surname has two syllables and finishes in at.

I prefer Chloe, DH prefer Mia - neither of us are that fussed about names not being in the popular list as we both have quite 'common' names........

Any views or other suggestions that we may not have thought of?

I like both, but prefer Mia.

I think Mia Charlotte "flows" better than Chloe Charlotte (too many "ch" and "l" sounds).

Rubena · 24/06/2010 07:49

Mia

randomimposter · 24/06/2010 08:34

Mia Charlotte.

And Mia over Chloe in any case.

(how are you saying Mia BTW? Me-ah?)

nailpolish · 24/06/2010 08:44

is mia a real name? it sounds like a non-name to me

i like chloe over mia, and anyhow, you never say your full name ie "hi my name is mary margaret anne smith" you say "my name is mary smith" so you arent going to ever say "c'mere chloe charlotte" are you

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 24/06/2010 08:49

Mia Charlotte. Chloe is top girls name now isn't it?

JamieJay · 24/06/2010 09:26

Thanks guys, looks like DH's choice gets the MN vote!

Nailpolish, you're right regarding the whole middle name thing and of the two Mia works better with our surname.

It is a real name by the way see here

I like both but prefer Mia. A really pretty name.

emmyloo2 · 24/06/2010 13:20

I like both but prefer Mia. You obviously know both are very popular but I think Mia is slightly less so.

Mia is a lovely lovely name.

Poohbearsmom · 24/06/2010 14:20

I adore the name Charlotte far less popular then yer other names which are both lovely would you not use Charlotte as a first name? I think Charlotte Mia flows lovely but if not Mia Charlotte gets my vote

JamieJay · 24/06/2010 17:13

I like Charlotte Poorbear but hate the name Charlie (actually find it quite cute for a boy though!). Have visions of turning into one of those mums that's constantly going 'It's Charlotte'!

Don't like Chloe or Mia but love Charlotte/Lottie.

liliputlady · 24/06/2010 17:35

I prefer Chloe to Mia, and Charlotte is lovely! I know a few Charlottes and all of them use their full name apart from one Lottie.

Hedwig3 · 24/06/2010 19:41

Mia

LynetteScavo · 24/06/2010 19:42

Mia

DrivenToDistraction · 24/06/2010 19:50

Mia out of the two. Is it Mee-ah or My-ah?

Charlotte Mia if you can.

ItsAllTurnedToShit · 24/06/2010 20:11

How about Maria, nn Mia?

JamieJay · 25/06/2010 20:12

Hadn't thought of Lottie as a shortening for Charlotte - quite cute, will discuss it with DH.

If we went with Mia it would Mee-ah.

MIL is called Maria and calling DD the same name has the potential to cause a few family problems (don't ask!)

Thanks all, has helped having some opinions

Not overly keen on either, but definitely prefer Mia. Chloe so over-used and not very interesting I think

Charlotte much nicer than either of them!

caramelwaffle · 27/06/2010 22:41

Chloe Charlotte may eventually get shortened to CeeCee if used together regularly.

BootyMum · 27/06/2010 22:47

Mia, pronounced Mee-ah, gets my vote!

Valpollicella · 27/06/2010 22:51

Mia (Mii-ah)

JamieJay · 27/06/2010 22:53

Thanks again everyone - Charlotte Mia is currently heading the list but DH is wanting to think about Lottie as a NN a bit before committing.

Of course when we meet her we might decide neither name suits her or the sonographer could have been wrong and she is a he!!

Mia is a beautiful name
