sorry, but in my job don't think I'd get passed the door with a name like Cherry. Nn fine but will need something else if she goes into business

ILoveDolly · 22/06/2010 22:46

Ok I do know what you mean. And I did give my daughter a 'serious' name with a cute short version so I can have my baby and she can have her career................ So perhaps Cherie is better?

samsonara · 22/06/2010 22:54

I have met a Cherry , she's pretty, sweet and a lovely perosn, the name suits her because it makes me think of sweet cherries in the summer rather than the other stuff mentioned, it's an unsual name ofcourse but it could work in positive ways because it's memorable withot being celeb, being called Cheri or Cheryl reminds you of well known people too much.

LovelyDear · 22/06/2010 23:15

can we play Guess ILoveDolly's surname? Berry? Brandy? Tree? Terry?

lilllysa · 23/06/2010 06:14

LOL! Maybe "popper"

Regional accent wouldnt be an issue but thinking maybe it isnt a good idea

Scarlett I did like but after experience with a Scarlett at DD's school I've been really put off

I know a girl called Cherry and it suits her well; she likes it and never has any problems with it. So if you really like the name, go for it.

websticks · 23/06/2010 21:36

my cousin is called Cherry she is in her 20s
Lovely name

LynetteScavo · 23/06/2010 21:37

Cherry is lovely.

(Cherie is awful!)

PassMeTheKleenex · 23/06/2010 21:45

Sorry - in the nicest way, you are addled.
All the things TheSecondComing said...
Plus, it makes me think of the bright red cherryade we used to drink as kids

As a red(ish) head, I would not like a name that ''matched''
You might make her dye her hair peroxide blonde! (when older, obviously)

vicbar · 24/06/2010 12:03

Sorry but the only Cherrys I know are stripper names. But I like Clemantine so what do I know

Jenbot · 24/06/2010 20:28

I like it!

Jenbot · 24/06/2010 20:30

Oh and think the mystery surname is stone.

PaulineCampbellJones · 24/06/2010 20:30

DD was called cherry before she was born. (Due to my GP calling her a little cherry when I went in to confirm my pregnancy). So very fond of the name but wouldn't have used it in real life iyswim.

sanielle · 25/06/2010 19:59

I think it is really cute..even though I kind of know I shouldn't... Besides dh barred me from having it as a middle name for mine..

muminthemiddle · 25/06/2010 23:43

Not keen, but preferable to Cheryl.

thecoffeelady · 25/06/2010 23:56

I am not keen on cherry (it's a little bit stripper - sorry)
but I do like

Ruby
Scarlett
Rosa

Kathleen123 · 28/06/2010 12:14

Dont like the name Cherry.

emmyloo2 · 28/06/2010 13:06

Nope, don't do it.

sweetnitanitro · 28/06/2010 13:12

Cherry is awful, sorry.

What about Rowan, it means 'little red-head'.

messylittlemonkey · 28/06/2010 13:28

I love it! Pretty and a bit unusual! Go for it!

bcrmum · 28/06/2010 16:33

Ahh Rowan is so sweet. I also found Alani(Hawaiian for red) I also only know 1 Rowan and she is in her 40's so unusual too.

Divatheshopaholic · 28/06/2010 16:35

No way, sounds like nasty joke. Sorry
