Tuesday for a DD?

CocoKev · 16/06/2010 22:44

I'm 19w with DC1 and possibly starting to feel some of the hormonal wobbles that I've avoided so far.
We don't know the sex yet- but my DH and I think that if we have a DD we would love to call her Tuesday Elizabeth. If we dare!
I keep picturing this little girl and think of her as being happy, fun and outgoing. I have an unusual name myself, and have always loved it.
I've asked a few friends and they've been positive about it, but they're probably just being kind. So I've steeled myself for your honest opinions- is this totally crazy?

Yes totally crazy.
Dreadful name.

stressheaderic · 16/06/2010 22:50

Totally crazy.
You will be asked if she was born on a Tuesday at least 500 times a day.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 16/06/2010 22:53

Elizabeth is lovely. Tuesday isn't.

paisleyleaf · 16/06/2010 22:54

You don't know the sex yet - but you know on which day she'll be born?

paisleyleaf · 16/06/2010 22:55

It's a bit Adams Family too.

CocoKev · 16/06/2010 22:57

I can see the way this is going already! Thanks for the sanity check. I will have to tell my friends to be more honest and less kind!

I love it and I have known a Tuesday before and yes she was outgoing and fun to be with (lost contact many years ago)

Just be aware that people are going to go OMG you HAVWNT you called her WHAT? YOU ARE going to be using Elizabeth and "was she born ona Tuesday then?"

but I think it is a pretty name

violethill · 16/06/2010 23:22

It's a day of the week. Leave it as that. For your dd's sake.

funnysinthegarden · 16/06/2010 23:25

ummmmm, no

Not sure about Tuesday Elizabeth, but I do love Ruby Tuesday

SirBoobAlot · 17/06/2010 09:56

I'm with violethill.

sonniebonnie · 17/06/2010 11:06

Not sure about Tuesday...

...although lots of other 'words' are used as names nowadays e.g. Violet, Daisy, Will etc.

alexisfaith · 17/06/2010 11:12

If you like the 'day' element, Loveday is a prettier choice.

notagrannyyet · 17/06/2010 11:24

May, April or Avril, & June are fine. Tuesday is a day of the week. Don't!

seeker · 17/06/2010 11:26

"If we dare!"

It's not you that has to dare - it's her. Elizabeth Tuesdy, if you must, but you do know you're being silly, don;t you?

seeker · 17/06/2010 11:28

Imagine if, for the rest of her life - that's possibly 90 years - every single time she tells someone her name, they will say "Were you born on Tuesday, then?"

Or "Bet you were born on a Wednesday, weren't you?"

williewalshsballs · 17/06/2010 11:35

ker razy

annasophia · 17/06/2010 11:38

I don't see how May, April, Summer, June should be any different - they are all words to indicate a time.

Personally I'm not keen on any words that are used as names nowadays...

aspiegal · 17/06/2010 12:01

I like it! IMO if you are going to use any day of the week name make it Tuesday, it's the prettiest. But I don't think I would do it because I'm not that brave!

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 17/06/2010 12:10

If it fits for your family, then why not?

My DCs go to school with an Easter and a Summer and they are unusual so get comments from time to time but nothing too unpleasant so far....

I've heard other "interesting" choices before, including a "Snow" (and yes, her surname was white)

ExitPursuedByABear · 17/06/2010 12:13

I read a book once about a girl named October, and I thought it was fab. However, my DD was born in October but I didn't have the nerve. Born on a Tuesday, yes, if not, no.

arsesandoldlace · 17/06/2010 12:14

Oh, I REALLY like it. But it is a little bit self-indulgent I think.
