I quite like it but it does make me think of the drawings and Chad Valley toys.

A chad is the little round circle of paper you get left over after using a hole punch

It reminds me of an american frat boy with chinos, big shoulders and a flat head.

But I spent far too long hanging out in dive bars whilst in the States though.

I know a Chad who is 6ft7ins tall. He used to carry my toddlers round on his shoulders. My ds is 18 now, and that is his earliest memory. So I'd be pro Chad.

The only thing it calls to my mind is the little man looking over the wall. He's been around a long time - my Grandad told me that he was drawn regularly in WW11, looking over his wall and asking 'Wot no....' about stuff that was rationed.

So the name has a history - and it's also a country. Wouldn't pick it myself.

DS sponsors a dog called Chad. I don't dislike the name but it does make me think of his dog.

It makes me think of the Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser - otherwise known as The Chad. ie a newspaper. Kind of like calling a baby Daily Mail

The dead heart of Africa. Very poor and very corrupt. Not really a particularly attractive country to name a child after. How about Togo?

To be fair, there is a St Chad (from the 7th century), it's not just made-up or from the country.

That said, I still don't like it. It sounds like a stereotypical dumb American guy.

I think frat boy too. Frat boy from the way-out suburbs who got driven everywhere as a child because there are no footpaths, not even a shred of urban grittiness.

Is that true about the hole punch thingy?
