Leopold?

I've always had a soft spot for Leopold, and given that it would be shortened to Leo, it's only unusual as a full name. Any thoughts?

I like it very much! Very cool and unusual.

coffeefestival · 15/06/2010 18:32

I like it Think it's my favourite Leo- name.

Blu · 15/06/2010 18:33

Isn't it the name of an unspeakably cruel Belgian tyrant who colonised the Congo?

Nice name, though.

NiceCuppaT · 15/06/2010 18:33

Don't like it at all, sounds like a musketeer or something...Sorry!!!

coffeefestival · 15/06/2010 18:35

Dunno Blu... but it's what Mozart's father was called.

King Leopold and the genocide in the Congo

loobylu3 · 15/06/2010 18:55

I love it- v stately but easy to shorten too!

SJisontheway · 15/06/2010 19:29

You know tomorrow is Blooms day - no idea when you are due but would be very appropriate for a June 16th baby

usualsuspect · 15/06/2010 19:30

awful

SpawnChorus · 15/06/2010 19:31

lovely

deeply · 15/06/2010 19:42

Love Leopold.

meadowlarks · 15/06/2010 19:56

SJisontheway - It would, wouldn't it? Joyce is a writer very close to my heart too, so that's another reason Leopold is great.

I really like it. I'm surprised it's not more popular.

CakeandRoses · 15/06/2010 21:53

What a find! Really lovely name and super-unusual. Leo for short is nice too.

SJisontheway · 15/06/2010 22:11

It is actually my due date but DH won't go for Leopold. I have Molly picked out for a girl though

moondog · 15/06/2010 22:12

Beatme to it Blu.
Yerrible connotations.

Amapoleon · 15/06/2010 22:12

Hmm, yes it's quite nice. Definitely has character.

mathanxiety · 16/06/2010 04:26

Nice old Germanic sounding name.

seenyertoeslately · 16/06/2010 11:38

I have a Leo and I wish that I'd called him Leopold. So does he. Go for it.

meadowlarks · 16/06/2010 22:36

Thanks for all your opinions

I love Leopold too.

My OH is called Leopold, people call him Leo (except our dentist who says Leopold all the time, it's really funny), but his friends are known him as Poldek. It suits him perfectly.
