What do you think of...

Just found out after a growth scan that my baby is a girl. Delighted as we already have two boys and were struggling to think of boys names.

We have decided on Martha as a first name.
She was going to be Martha Pearl but our surname begins with L and I was a little uncomfortable with it.

DH suggested Martha Ellen. Ellen is my middle name and my grandmothers middle name. I hated it as a child but as an adult I have grown to rewally like it.

What do you think?

Much nicer than Pearl with Martha

Wanderingsheep · 13/06/2010 19:49

Yes, prefer Ellen to Pearl. Pearl would probably blend into the L surname and Pearl always reminds me of that grumpy woman in Last Of the Summer Wine!

Pearl reminds me of the non celeb who thinks she is a celeb Pearl Lowe, also of the cinema Pearl and Dean and the woman from LOTSW!!!!

Ellen is a lovely name, even better with family connections.

Bechka · 13/06/2010 21:22

Like both Pearl and Ellen, but think Ellen goes better with Martha. Also issue of Pearl getting swallowed up by L surname....

I know of a Martha Sparkle!!

Love Ellen, love it even more if there's a family connection. Martha Ellen sounds lovely. Congratulations on your little girl! Hope the rest of the pregnancy goes well.
