I have a thing against names beginning with 'uh'. My name's Olivia and I hate having to enunciate that first nothingy syllable.
So how about Mira / Meera?

It wouldn't start 'Uh' but 'Ah' as in Ah-meer-ah. I imagine it would naturally get shortened to Mira.

Yes, unfortunate conincedence with Eastenders - but I think she's been written out now..... which I think makes it much more acceptable!

Very pretty. I know a girl with that name who pronounces it Am-eye-rah. She isn't Muslim either.
