It's pretty but it reminds me of frothy!

what does it mean?

Nope

5DollarShake · 08/06/2010 10:44

I know a 40-something Fritha.

It's not really to my taste, but then neither is Freya, which is similar, but very popular.

Disclaimer before I offend anyone: The names are both lovely, just not to my personal taste or ones I would choose.

DRAGON30 · 08/06/2010 11:03

It's Danish, and means protection/peace. (thanks to Danish SIL3!!)

I confess that I have been reading the Snow Goose and the girl in the story is called Fritha. I really like it for my theoretical girl. Maybe I will get another cat.........

I quite like it. It's a nice change from Freya, although as MargaretAtwood said it does sound like frothy.

Prefer Frida

Spidermama · 08/06/2010 17:06

A bit too spitty.

Fanfare · 08/06/2010 17:07

Sea foam

DownyEmerald · 08/06/2010 17:11

she won't be able to say it 'til she is about 5. Be cute tho'.

Bumpette · 08/06/2010 17:59

Had to comment on this because I knew a Fritha who has sadly now passed away. She was absolutely one of the most beautiful people i have ever met - both inside and out. So I say go for it wholeheartedly! I think she was also named after the snow goose character!

RamonaThePest · 08/06/2010 21:56

Bumpette - so sad.

I feel terrible saying what I was going to say now..... which is....

It is very, very pretty.

But my sister had a friend called Fritha (also lovely, Bumpette) who had a terrible lisp. She could say neither the "r" sound or the "th" sound, so the name was a real burden for her. It put me off, which is a shame as it is so nice.

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 08/06/2010 22:02

Hope the kid doesn't have a lisp.

funnysinthegarden · 08/06/2010 23:11

so, I think my dream girl will, on balance, be called Fritha. I like the seafoam analogy, provided tis not flotsam and jetsam, but nice seafoam like the kind you get when the waves are really rough
