Do names meanings matter?
Do you know what your own name means? Or your DP/DH etc???

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Unless you're planning to name your child Beelzebub, I personally don't really think name meanings matter that much.

I know others will disagree - some people choose a name specifically for its meaning.

I think my name means Dedicated to God or some such - it is certainly meaningless to me!

I know the meanings of all my DC's names, my own & DH's names. I think it makes a name more attractive if it has a nice meaning &, now my eldest is 7 years old, she likes asking the meanings of her own names & her sisters.

2 of mine are literary characters and the other is after an author. But I did check their meanings just in case they were v odd. I do find people's name meanings v interesting though.

I find name meanings incredibly interesting so yes, I know the meanings of the names of most people close to me. And I'd definitely consider meaning it cones to choosing a name for DC. Whether I'd avoid particular meanings I don't know but it might swing a difficult decision.

I've always been interested in name meanings but didn't think I'd particularly choose a name because of it's meaning...

Fast-forward to 2009 after being told that I wouldn't be able to carry another baby to term and we chose the name Miriam specifically because of one of its meanings; wished for child.
