How do you pronounce Malia/Maila?
Not keen on Maddison at all I'm afraid.

mathanxiety · 07/06/2010 17:36

Is it Malia or Maila?

(I'm not keen on Maddison either)

LadyStitt · 07/06/2010 18:05

I like Maddison for a girl, how do you pronounce Malia? is it may-le-a ?

I am having trouble finding a girls name to go with my surname STITT.

It is such a masculine, consonant heavy suranme i think i need a long girly first name to go with it! If you have any ideas they will be greatfully recieved!!!

aspiegal · 07/06/2010 20:07

I like Malia if it is pronounced Mah-lee-a
(Mah rhyming with baa!) but otherwise no. Is Maila May-lah? That would be alright too as long as it is with the right middle name and surname.
However I'm not sure about Maddison. I think it would be alright again with the right middle and surnames, but I don't like it paired with either Malia or Maila.

Does Maila sound the same as mailer?

Would you consider any similar-sounding names such as Milena, May, Maya, Mia, Emily, Talia, Leah or Amelia?

Ineedsomesleep · 07/06/2010 20:41

Not keen on Mddison either I'm afraid. Not sure how to pronouce Malia either.

mathanxiety · 07/06/2010 21:12

If it's Malia is it like Malia Obama (Mah-leah)?

janeite · 07/06/2010 21:17

Don't like Maddison and don't like alliterative names, so a double no from me, sorry.

How about Marlene? As in Mar-lay-na rather than Mar-leen if that makes sense!

NiceCuppaT · 08/06/2010 09:05

Malia like the holiday resort?

Adair · 08/06/2010 09:14

Reminds me of the name Mahalia - it means laughter. Beautiful.

hallomutti · 09/06/2010 14:46

thanks for all your thoughts/comments.

Malia - like in Mah-lee-a

Maila - like in my-lah

dont really like maddison either it's my hubby's idea!!so already compromised to have it as a middle name and NOT as First.just hate the thought that everyone will otherwise nickname/call her as maddy...

I like Malia.

lidofabiro · 09/06/2010 20:15

Out of Malia and Maila, I prefer the sound of Maila, but with the spelling Mila.

I would go for Milena as the full name, with Mila for short.

mathanxiety · 09/06/2010 20:21

Maila sounds like mylar (balloons)
