Would you be kind enough to share your shortlist for girl's names please?

Whether it is a current one or an old one or a 'if I ever one day have a little girl' list because I'm struggling to come up with a list of my own and time is going on.

Lists from all language/ethnic groups are really welcome.

I'm hoping that pooling ideas will help me and others - this is not for critiquing, just for inspiring!

As soon as I can tidy up my scruffy WordPad list I will post what I have. Thanks in advance

Arden (I love, DP likes)
Arwen (I love DP really likes)
Auden (hot on the tail of Arya, fave for both)
Isla (was our original choice when we first got together)
Iris (DP loves, I am coming round)

PipocaThePedantic · 14/06/2010 19:40

Any girl we ever have will need a name that works or can be pronounced in both English and Spanish

Isabel (the fave)
Sophia
Amalia
Alicia
Elena
Luisa
Sara (not sure, DH likes it)
Eloisa
Soraya (quite like it, DH doesn't)
Inés (Dh doesn't like it)

sedgiebaby · 14/06/2010 19:49

Pipoca, I know a lovely spanish girl called Elena and said so nicely and easily in English too, I also like Soraya I know a lovely English girl named so, and again easily said. Eloisa is great it is only the popularity of Isabel that makes me think twice, both here and the USA, DH really loves it. Thanks for posting - a great list!

Starberries; great list too I love Arden and Arya

LaRagazzaInglese · 17/07/2010 12:19

Love Aoife too, and might add Heidi, Ingrid and Greta to my list, aaargh it's getting longer!!

mysteryfairy · 17/07/2010 16:15

If I were lucky enough to have another DD I would currently go for one of:
Elodie
Constance (Connie)
Xanthe
Eden
Thea
Thalia
Mathilda
Miranda (DP's favourite but after broken promises re not using horrid nicknames for the DSs did not let him have it for DD as I was scared he would call her Randy. I do love Miranda in the Tempest though).

List keeps getting longer and it is looking increasing unlikely I will ever have a DD2, much as I would love one

EnglandAllenPoe · 17/07/2010 16:31

mines

Miranda
Miriam
Ammerentie (Amaranth, the flower, Dutch sp Ammerentijie)

DH is having none of them. Boring sod. (although Miriam was my brothers long term girlfriend, so a choice that could be offensive to his wife)
