Frigga

I'm a pagan and super interested in the Norse mythology so want to call my baby girl Frigga after Odin's wife but my boyfriend says it sounds stupid and wants to call her Janice. How boring is that?! There is no way I'm naming my poor baby Janice! I want her to have something original and spiritual. I think Frigga's perfect.

What do other mums and mums-to-be think?

Anybody else interested in Norse mythological names for babies?

No disrespect to people called Janice. (My boyfriend's mum is called Janice and she's really great.)

I have to be honest - I think you are setting her up for an awful lot of teasing with frigga - as meaningful as it may be. I'm speaking as someone with no knowledge of Norse mythology and I will be in the majority. Sorry.

Freja is better, imo. Frigga sounds somewhat dodgy!

PortiaNovmerriment · 04/06/2010 18:20

Do it, do it- it's a great idea, and really unusual. I bet nobody else will be giving their baby a name which looks like the feminine form of wanker.

PuppyMonkey · 04/06/2010 18:20

Janice is awful

HG6503 · 04/06/2010 18:21

She can always shorten it to Frigg if Frigga gets her teased as they're both names for the same goddess.

Frigga, as in frigger? Have you said it to anyone in real life?

Nerthus
Gudrun
Brunhild
Saule

All nicer than Frigga! Not the nicest mythology for names, is it?
