Ivy or Connie (Constance)

I've heard all the 'poison Ivy' jokes and it doesn't put me off - she's my gorgeous 12 day old DD with masses of dark hair and there is NOTHING poisonous about her!!

But we can't decide between the two above...

Help!

Ivy for sure. I always think of a gorgeous dark haired child when I think of Ivy.

rachxx · 04/06/2010 10:26

Ivy

TooPragmatic · 04/06/2010 10:28

Congrats on the birth of your gorgeous DD.

Have you thought about Tancy as a short form of Constance? I think it's really pretty, and quite unusual.

AprilMeadow · 04/06/2010 10:29

I think Ivy is very pretty

Congratulations on her arrival

newmomma · 04/06/2010 10:33

Thanks All!

Too how do you pronounce Tancy?
tan-see?

I'm glad some other people think Ivy is pretty and not poisonous.

I love Constance, and Connie is a great shortening. Congrats by the way

TooPragmatic · 04/06/2010 10:51

yes, Tancy to rhyme with Nancy.

DastardlyandSmugly · 04/06/2010 11:02

I like both but I think I prefer Ivy.

skihorse · 04/06/2010 11:05

Congratulations!

Constance for me!

PuppyMonkey · 04/06/2010 11:06

Constance much nicer

lidofabiro · 04/06/2010 11:13

I really like both I never think of "poison ivy".

When you've chosen the first name are you thinking of using the other one as a middle name? Ivy Constance or Constance Ivy would both be lovely, but I think Ivy Constance "flows" just slightly better.

newmomma · 04/06/2010 11:23

Ooh - I hadn't though of using BOTH of them - lido - you're a flippin' genius!!

PuppyMonkey · 04/06/2010 17:34

Yeah me too Ineedsomesleep. And the way Don her husband (was it Don???) used to pronounce it I-veh! I-veh! Shudder.

Connie. I like a lot of old lady names, but not Ivy.

Not keen on Constance though, but Connie is nice.

I love Constance, and it has a beautiful meaning.

Btw, if you decide on Ivy Constance, check it with the initials and your surname first!

changer22 · 04/06/2010 21:12

I love Constance.
