my mothers name. Love it.

Means graceful, soft, peaceful in Arabic. Often associated to describe a fragrance.

If you like Jazz, look for the John Coltrane Tune (Naima - after his wife).

Can also be spelt Naema which is a light pink rose named after the eponymous classic Guerlain perfume.

Beautiful name, very beautiful

Also spelt Naaymah

I like Naima a lot - on the list for mythical DD if we ever have her!

Oops I don't like Nimmy or Nim. Why do you have to NN it?

I know a lovely girl called Naima. Definitely use it. But 'Nimmy/Nim' as nn, I'm not sure. It might just be me, but I instantly thought they sound like 'fanjo' words.

Naima is stunning though. Added to my list too.

Na-ee-mah

barbie1 · 02/06/2010 08:48

thanks slim yep i like it!

Threelittlemoomins · 02/06/2010 08:57

Naima just seems so grown up for a tiny baby / toddler. Will forget Nim as a nn but suspect she'll get something else given to her by my other DC!

Yes saw the john Coltrane tune and think that's quite a cool link to have!

It's a nice name, and personally I don't think it's too grown up for a baby / little girl at all.

Don't like the nns - agree with alexisfaith!

lidofabiro · 02/06/2010 10:01

It's nice, although I think a lot of people will initially pronounce it name-a
