DH and I have got a short shortlist of names for DD2. We seem to like popular names so no need to point out their popularity but just wondered what you think?

Eleanor (nn Ellie)
Isabella (nn Bella)
Sophia

Um, that's it.

Thanks!

I like popular names too it only made me stop and think when I heard about a little boy called Matt who had so many Matt's in his class it was some time before he realised his name wasn't really 'Matt B'.
I like:
Sophia then Eleanor then Isabella (but prefer isi as a nn as I happen know a very amazonian and quite thick set Bella who was not that belle TBH and its all I think of when I hear that name)

Thanks sedgie, I'm not totally sure on Bella but don't like Izzy as a nn (I'm in to long names with nn potential).

They're all lovely names Sophia is my favourite of those three.

CheerfulYank · 01/06/2010 18:20

I like Eleanor the best (Eleanora is our chosen name for next DC if a girl- we will use Ellie too. ) So pretty!

Sophia is also very pretty.

Isabel/Isabella/Isobel etc, has been done to death here in the US. It's our new Madison! It's a very pretty name, and I know you said you didn't care that it's very popular, but it's hard for me to be objective b/c here in my little corner of Minnesota we're overrun.

Psammead · 01/06/2010 18:28

Sophia is my fave

mathanxiety · 01/06/2010 18:46

I like Sophia and Eleanor best.

Gigantaur · 01/06/2010 18:47

DD is Eleanor

Rubena · 01/06/2010 19:03

Isabella and Sophia

CDMforever · 01/06/2010 19:47

I love Isabella. We have an Arabella as Isabella is quite popular in these parts, and she's pretty much always Bella.

janeite · 01/06/2010 19:51

Love Eleanor and Isabella.

withorwithoutyou · 01/06/2010 19:54

Ok, great, thanks everyone.

I think we will go in with our shortlist of three and decide when we see her.

Have to hope she suits one of these names!

Or doesn't turn out to be a boy

I love Eleanor- so beautiful and classic
I also love Isabel. Isabella is pretty but I prefer Isabel/ Isobel personally.

withorwithoutyou · 01/06/2010 20:18

Thanks looby.

I actually prefer Isobel but we've got one in the famiy. Wanted to a name that was all her own, but not sure if Isabella is different enough now I thikn aobut it..

What do you think of Leonora?

It is a beautiful version of Helen /Eleanor.

crumblequeen · 01/06/2010 20:31

Like Sophia and Eleanor best - all lovely - no negatives to say about any of them!

withorwithoutyou · 01/06/2010 21:36

Not to sure about Leonora, hadn't really thought of it but wanted Eleanor so we could use Ellie.

mathanxiety · 01/06/2010 23:30

Oh I love Leonora...

withorwithoutyou · 02/06/2010 14:51

Still can't decide whether we'd use Eleanor or Elinor.

Have to hope she looks liek a Sophia
